General Information

Please Do....

  1. Continue to use plastic bags, especially for food waste. This will help keep the container clean and odor-free.
  2. Simply roll the cart out on collection day, and place the can at the bottom of the driveway in the same spot your container was delivered. Make sure the arrow points toward the street as directed on the lid.
  3. Make sure the container is clear of mailboxes, poles, parked cars or any other obstructions.

Please Don't....

Don't place any of the following materials in the container:

  • No recyclables
  • No bulk waste (see below for bulk collection dates)
  • No brush
  • No household hazardous materials
  • No flammables, paints or thinners
  • No remodeling or construction debris
  • No hot ashes
  • No metal pieces or items
  • No Computers/TVs
Hazardous Household Waste
 
(may be dropped off at DPW on the first Saturday each Month, unless it is a holiday)
  1. Hazardous materials include paint, paint thinner, florescent light bulbs, car batteries, lithium batteries, rechargeable batteries, toxic chemicals, aerosols, thermostats, oil and fuel. 
  2. Pressure treated wood may be brought to the Public Works for disposal.  State law prohibits it being picked up curbside.  There is a designated area in the yard for pressure treated wood.
  3. It is no longer necessary to recycle regular A, AA, C and D batteries.  Manufacturers have been mandated to reduce the level of mercury in them and they may be thrown away in your regular trash now.
  4. To Dispose of Medical Needles/Syringes:

Virtua Health Safe Syringe Program

To find the location nearest you, call toll-free 1-888-virtua3 (1-888-847-8823) Monday - Friday from 7am - 6pm.

Participants receive a sterile, durable container to dispose of used sharps. Syringes fit into the container without the needle needing to be broken or recapped. When the container is full, return it for a new container to the Virtua Health location where it was obtained.

BioSystems will dispose of the filled container in an environmentally responsible manner. There is a one time $10.00 fee.

Bulk Waste
Collection Guidelines

  • Debris must be cut into 4-foot lengths, bundled and tied (i.e. wood and carpet).
  • Bundles can not exceed 40 pounds.
  • Place bulk to be collected away from automated containers and other obstacles.
  • As of January 1, 2010 - TV's can no longer be picked up curbside. Thisis a new county policy. All TV's must be brought to public works for
    disposal.
Your bulk collection day will be the first trash collection day of the month. If your bulk collection day falls on a holiday (in July and September), bulk trash will be collected on your next regular trash day. Bulk collection is defined as items too big to fit in the container which cannot be recycled (TV,Boxspring, mattress, etc.).

Brush Collection

 

  • Cut and tied in 4-foot lengths
  • Call 983-2798 for an appointment or use our Brush Collection Request form. (There will be no brush collection during the months of November and December due to leaf collection.)
  • If you have any brush, it may be brought to the Public Works Facility at 501 Evesboro-Medford Rd.

 

New Ordinance for "Brush Collection"

Ordinance # 20-6-2001 Brush, Grass and Weeds

The township provides for curbside collection of residential tree limbs, branches, stumps and bushes. To expedite this collection, the township requires the following:

1) Said material shall be tied in bundles weighing no more than forty (40) pounds and no longer than four (4) feet in length.

2) Said materials shall be placed at curbside no sooner than 24 Hours prior to appointed pick-up.

Only materials for which an appointment has been made and comply with these regulations shall be collected. No materials from landscapers, developers, or other commercial establishments shall be collected at any time.
