Clean Water Information

LETS KEEP WATER CLEAN IN EVESHAM TOWNSHIP

Municipal Stormwater Management Plan (PDF 8mb)

Simple changes in our daily lifestyle can make a tremendous difference in the quality of our water resources. The following guidelines are just a few simple ways that we all can reduce water pollution and help keep our township beautiful.

Litter: Place litter, including cigarette butts and fast food containers, in trash receptacles. Never throw litter in streets or down storm drains. Recycle as much as possible.

Pesticides: Many household products made to exterminate pests also are toxic to humans, animals, aquatic organisms and plants. Use alternatives whenever possible.

Household Hazardous Waste: Paint thinners, moth balls, drain and oven cleaners, to name a few, contain toxic ingredients and are a threat to public health and to our environment. Do not discard these products in your regular household trash. Bring these items to our Public Works facility on the first Saturday of every month for disposal.

Motor Oil: There are toxic chemicals in used motor oil that are harmful to humans, fish, and animals. Never dump used motor oil down storm sewers or on the ground. Take all used motor oil to Evesham Townships designated drop off centers.

Pet Waste: Animal waste contains bacteria and viruses. Pet owners should clean up after their pets and dispose of the waste in the garbage or toilet.

Septic Systems: An improperly working septic system can contaminate ground water and create public health problems. Avoid adding any household hazardous products and solids to your septic system. Have your tank inspected yearly.

These suggestions are simple and easy to apply to your daily lifestyle. Make a commitment today to abide by these simple suggestions and you will be adding to the health and beauty of our water supply. For further information on how to keep our water supply safe, visit http://www.cleanwaternj.org
