In addition, she facilitated workshops for the Women’s Opportunity Center at the YMCA to help women returning to the workforce.
Currently, she is serving the Evesham Township Board of Education, Mt. Laurel Township Board of Education, Lenape Regional High School District and Burlington County Institute of Technology as a substitute teacher.
Debbie has served civic, business and other community groups here in Burlington County. Over the years, she has been chairperson of membership for the Women’s League of Evesham and vice president of membership for New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners for the Burlington County chapter. Debbie continues to serve on the Old Marlton Fall Festival and WinterFest committees.
She has also been a member of both the Marlton Business Association and Voorhees Business Association. She has served on the Marlton Economic Development Advisory Commission as a small business representative. Through her business, she has served local retirement communities, taking care of alteration and tailoring needs.
She continues to work on the Development Committee at The Githens Center (Cerebral Palsy Association of Burlington County), where she helps with the annual bike-a-thon. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2004.
With her daughters in school, she is very active with Girl Scouts. She was responsible for cookie sales for the Daisy troop this past year. She is also a member of the Evans PTA.
Debbie and her family attend Unity Church of Christ in Mt. Laurel, where she serves on the Board of Directors, has been co-chair of the community outreach ministry, and is a member of the music band and drama team.
Being brought up in a home where service was expected, Debbie has followed in her parents’ footsteps. Her parents were both involved in (and still are) various community organizations. Her father is a retired teacher from the Upper Darby School District. Her mother was an administrative assistant to the vice president of development at a large local seminary.
She resides in Marlton with her husband, Dave, of 18 years, and two daughters, Rachel, 9, and Abigail, 7. She has resided in New Jersey for the last 26 years. What has been, and continues to be, important to Debbie is accountability, stewardship or right use of resources, and discipleship or willingness to roll up her sleeves to get the job done. |
